Using EQU StreamZ on a horse with a heart condition
Seek medical advice before using StreamZ Technology on a horse fitted with a pacemaker, or a previously diagnosed heart condition.
Using EQU StreamZ on a horse with sensitive skin
Some animals, particularly greys (white haired horses) or horses with allergic contact dermatitis, may find the neoprene too sensitive to place against the skin. If you notice any discomfort or discolouration on the skin within the first 1 to 24 hours then remove the bands. If problems persist then the neoprene bands should be removed completely. This article on how best to apply tape may be on interest.
Note: Tape can can applied to the horse's legs prior to fitting the bands, avoiding direct contact with the skin. Follow the advise HERE if you wish to do this.
The StreamZ strips can also be removed from the sleeves and wrapped around the horses leg within a bandage/vet wrap - avoiding the use of neoprene entirely.
Using EQU StreamZ on a horse with PPDID/Cushings
If your horse has been previously diagnosed with severe Cushings then you may want to speak with a vet prior to use.
StreamZ are a complementary device and should never replace prescribed medications or treatments. As with prescribed medications, StreamZ does not offer any guarantees for the intended purpose of use.
Each horse is advised to wear two EQU StreamZ bands (one pair) just above or below the fetlock area, on any two front or hind legs.
Ensure the horses legs are clean before fitting the bands.
If using in soft ground, or on sensitive skinned horses, a few layers of equine tape can be applied around the leg prior to fitting the bands. This can also be beneficial when using the bands in stables using bed shavings.
Make sure at all times that the bands are fitted evenly ensuring that the Velcro fastening hooks cannot touch the horses skin.
The bands should be removed for riding.
Wrap around the leg ensuring they are tight enough to not spin around the leg. Around one fingers width between the horse and the bands will be about right.
The technology is designed to be worn for a minimum of 8 hours a day although results have been reported as significantly greater when used 24x7.
Where and when to wear EQU StreamZ bands
ABOVE Fetlock (around the cannon bone) – use when turned out in soft ground conditions or whilst in light work.
BELOW Fetlock (around the pastern) – use below fetlock when turned in or on box rest. (Slightly better reaction when placed below, but movement is found below the fetlock)
If the ground is soft enough to allow the bands to be partially or fully submerged then the bands should be removed. Tape can be used below or above the bands if you do wish to use the product in very muddy weather.
In wet/muddy conditions it is advised to remove the bands completely if the bands will become submerged in use.
The bands can be placed on any two legs; providing 'full-body coverage'.
Care and attention and 'a level of common-sense' is required for the bands to last; as with any other tack product.
What to do about damaged or lost bands
Lost bands are not covered under warranty and single bands are not available for purchase.
Please note that most horses have the ability to remove the bands. They may have no history in removing tack in the past, but there is a first time for everything. If bands are found damaged or on the floor it is highly likely they have been removed. Our team will be able to advise.
'Turnout strips' are available for a small fee, these are small 10cm badges which fit over the fastening tongue of our horse bands. These are glow-in-the-dark neon yellow and have been developed to strengthen the fastening of the bands and allow them to be found easier if they are removed. Ideal for 'chewers' or horses turned out for long periods of time.
Remove EQU StreamZ when riding
The bands should be removed when riding. There is slight movement within the area the bands are placed which can lead to rubbing or the bands falling off.
Using the bands 24x7
StreamZ advertise the EQU bands as “24x7 use”. This refers to the technology being able to be worn all day every day, and particularly when the horse is ‘in recovery’. This does not stipulate that bands can be worn 24x7 in all weather conditions, particularly in extremely muddy conditions where the bands may become submerged. Common sense is require for when the horse can and cannot wear the bands.
How often do you need to replace EQU StreamZ bands?
We recommend updating the bands with new versions every 3 to 4 years. This is because we are constantly updating the technology as new materials and technologies become available. The existing design is roughly 10% stronger in energy than the original invented technology due to updates in the material used within StreamZ silicone.
Cleaning the bands
The material has a life span as with any aesthetic product such as shoes or clothing; it requires care and attention to last 12 months or more, particularly the fastening. To keep the bands as long as possible it is advised that they are washed as often as possible using only cold water and soap only.
Simply remove the StreamZ silicone strips from the open end of the bands (the end next to fastening tongue) and wash by hand or in a machine on a cold hand washing setting and place the strips somewhere safe. Hand/pat dry and slide the StreamZ strips back into the bands, with the ridges/lines on the StreamZ strip facing away from the skin (smooth side facing the skin).
Avoid using warm/hot water at all times as this can damage the hooks on the fastening material.
Pay attention to the open-stitched end of each band. This open stitch allows the removal of the StreamZ magnetic strips for when the user wishes to wash the bands or update the sleeves. Once on a horse the Magnetic strips are unable to be removed as the strips wrap around the horses leg. If Streamz strips are misplaced then this is entirely out of the control of StreamZ.
Maintaining the EQU StreamZ bands
The fastening within the EQU StreamZ requires a level of maintenance and care.
Warranty is available on defects with the fastening. We have had issues in the past with the material used and updated the material to the strongest on the market to rectify this issue.
Proof of purchase will be required for warranty defects, damaged or lost bands are not covered under warranty.

Where should EQU StreamZ be worn on my horse?
EQU StreamZ horse bands are bands which can be worn on any two fetlocks (front legs) or the hocks, hind legs (back legs.) They should be wrapped around the pastern or cannon bone, just below or above the fetlock (fronts or hinds). They provide full-body coverage.
Can my horse wear EQU StreamZ through turnout?
Yes, the bands can be worn 24x7 and through most weather conditions. If turned out or on soft ground we advise the bands are fitted above the fetlock to avoid them being submerged or damaged.
Can my horse wear EQU StreamZ through box rest or in the stable?
Yes. The horse bands are developed of long term 24x7 use and are suitable inside a stable or on box rest. Place around pastern or cannon bone, on either front or back legs.
Due to varying weather conditions it is not always possible to wear them below the joint. It also depends on the weather/ground condition as to whether they are placed above or below.
Can my horse wear EQU StreamZ bands overnight?
Yes. EQU StreamZ bands are designed for continuous wear, including overnight and during turnout, for maximum effectiveness. They should be worn for a minimum of 8hrs per day.
What weather conditions can EQU StreamZ bands be used in?
EQU StreamZ bands are suitable for use in all weather conditions. This includes hot weather, snow, rain and everything in between.
As with any tack, it is important that the products are never submerged in mud. If the ground is wet/soft and has the potential to submerge the product the bands should either be placed above the fetlock (and out of the mud) or removed completely.
Can I use EQU StreamZ bands while riding my horse?
No we advise that you remove the bands whilst riding; the bands may move around on the leg slightly causing discomfort. The bands can be worn during light exercise and schooling, but they are primarily designed for use when the horse is at rest, in rehabilitation (box rest) or turned out.
Are EQU StreamZ bands safe for all horses?
Yes, EQU StreamZ bands are safe for all horse breeds, ages, and disciplines. This includes pregnant mares. Consult your veterinarian if you are not comfortable with using StreamZ on your horse for any reason.
Can EQU StreamZ bands be used on foals or young horses?
Yes, they are safe for young horses and in fact our product for cows, MOO StreamZ, are widely used on calves who have been injured in or just after birth. It is advised to monitor the use of the bands when first used on young horses as they have notoriously sensitive skin. If they have white hair or appear to have thinner/more sensitive skin than the average young horse then you can wrap a few layers of vet rap around the leg first - avoiding direct contact between the skin and the bands.
Can EQU StreamZ bands help with arthritis in horses?

Ice Verses Cooling
For years, traditional ice boots have been a staple within equine care, a method commonly used to reduce heat in the horses legs after exercise.
Just as many equestrians look to cool down their horse directly after exercise using cold water, others look towards technologies such as ice boots. In sports horses, simply using cold water is not adequate so many owners look towards tack and technologies aimed at reducing the horses temperature.
Traditional ice boots do have their limitations, some requiring electricity to charge them and many requiring a freezer to freeze the ice packs - not always possible when at an event or away from home.
Ice used in traditional horse tack can lead to 'ice shock' and poses risks of 'ice burn'.
Ice by nature does not stay cold for long, particularly when placed against a horses leg. This can lead to some ice boots actually increasing heat in the horses legs once the packs have melted.
Most ice boots require the entire boot to be frozen before use which is highly impractical. Freezers are for food and drink, not smelly horse boots!
